As a believer in the importance of learning new languages and inspired by this TED talk about the benefits of a bilingual brain,(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMmOLN5zBLY), I've been always looking for new ways to learn new languages. Ways that are time consuming, affordable and most important interesting!
Previously I used to be a Memrise addict. A website (that's also available as an application on smartphones) which I've shared with you on this blog about a year ago.

I still learn through Memrise and I still think it makes learning an enjoyable experience, but now a new application have come in my way. In fact, a friend of mine told me about it when she knew I was learning French language through applications. It is called Duolingo. Here's a website if you are surfing on your laptop https://en.duolingo.com/ or you can find the corresponding application on play store (android users) or on the the app store (apple users).
How does it differ? Be sure it isn't just another application, it is a unique one! The most important feature that is available in Duolingo is that the application literally asks you to say the words so that you learn how to speak the new language instead of learning only vocabulary words. Besides the different types of questions or games as I like to name them, like scrambled words, tapping the pairs (words of same meaning), filling in blanks and many others. Duolingo offers you a very organized learning experience since words are classified in categories such as animals, food, and others. One last thing to remember, you can always take a shortcut if you have previous knowledge in the language you are learning to save your time.
In brief: Duolingo is worth trying. You will not only love it but Duolingo will also make you love the new language you are learning. "Je vous garantie" ;)
